Storm Dancer

Storm dancer,
   Taut in the lightning flash,,
Leaps in the moment of the thunder crash,
Streaked by rain and the clouds' flame,
In a windlash of motion flies again.

From the shelter of a tree's boughs,
I watched the cartwheel of your dance,
Watched you tumble and soar,
Straight as an arrow, supple as a willow lance
      In the wild downpour.
Watched as you flew the chance of an angry sky,
Your only music the winds cry,
And turned the clouds fury into a song of dark laughter,
      Rain beguiled, storm child
