I'm blind to the protests,
As we're crossing the Square
The voices from loudhailers
Splashing around us
Like fountains.

All I can see is your dress
the slight scar across one cheek
pale cicatrix against
the brown hair of your fringe
As you smile a goodbye at the tube.
