Dracula's Ark by
Simone Solon
The next day dawned almost as dark as night. Great black clouds rolled across the sky and thunder rumbled moodily between them, getting louder and louder while lightning crackled and spat livid forks. Noah already had his family and all the animals inside Noah's Ark but Dracula's Ark was empty while everyone argued about who was to get in first. Then the first huge drop of rain fell, 'splosh', right on top of a vampire's head and a moment later everyone was trying to get into the submarine all at once.
"Stop!" yelled Dracula. "You horrible mob! Noah's lot went in two by two so you lot can just line up and do the same." Everyone grumbled but Dracula, X and Evil Eye soon had them in line and ugly ghouls and filmy ghosts and shadowy bogey men and bat-winged vampires and wicked witches and snarling werewolves and goblins and dwarves and dragons all went into Dracula's Ark two by two while the rain crashed down and got them all wet. At last everyone was inside and the submarine was slowly covered up by the rain and the swamp trolls started to turn the propellers and Dracula's Ark moved off. "Hooray!" shouted everyone as they felt the submarine move. "Hooray for Dracula's Ark," they said.
Then the werewolves started howling some of their favourite songs; and the witches and the warlocks got out their best magic potions; and the wicked dwarves started a wild rhythm on their drums; and the whole lot started a riotous party while they waited for the rain to stop which, by all accounts, wasn't going to be for a very long time.
